Sandalwood Lagoon

Let me share my experience with this amazing lagoon I visited in Victoria Australia recently. The owner of the land 'Tuesday' does an exceptional job maintaining it. Tuesday's knowledge and commitment to the regeneration and preservation of the land are evident. So many fascinating stories were told about the land, animals the rare sandalwood trees and the lagoon. The native trees on the property are truly extraordinary, displaying a beauty that is both unique and captivating.

The lagoon itself is a haven for wildlife, providing a serene escape from the disturbances of boats and jetskis. This peaceful environment offers a rare opportunity to connect with nature and enjoy an increasingly elusive experience.

I had an awesome time capturing the beauty of nature through my lens. The Australian greens, greys, and oranges made for some stunning photographs during my exploration.

The new adventure of being parents

Capturing this family’s story was doubly special to me not only because they are good friend of mine but also because they have been having so many around the world adventures that seeing them settling down in their beautiful home with their adorable baby makes me so so happy. It was a chilled Sunday morning and we chatted about birth, parenthood and so much more that can be changed by having a baby.

Canon Ae1 film camera

Having been inspired by a few film photographers recently, I went back, dug out and dusted my old film camera and gave it a go after almost 18 years!

I must admit, it was so scary to go back to analogue at first... So many elements that I thought would make it too difficult to shoot from the heart... basic light metre, fixed ISO, manual focus, expensive film processing,... the list goes on and on...

I gave it a go and of course with my best subjects Mila and Ruby (my kids). As I started shooting them, it felt like there was a fire igniting. It felt like meeting up with an old friend who you have lost touch with.. feeling anxious before seeing them and then .... you can't stop talking to them or in this case you can't stop shooting.

The experience was so different from the digital SLR. Instead of shooting, shooting shooting, I had to be selective when pressing that shutter release button. Everything must be perfect... try that with a 3/5 year old and a 19 month old!!! almost impossible but still achievable.

I have made this a creative mission for myself to produce more art with this film passion of mine. My goal remains to be not only to improve the techniques of analogue photography, but also to tell the story I want to tell in its most candid and raw state and be as creative as I can.

I am sharing this on the blog and I know from now on the photos can only get better!!!!

Miss Annabella is here!

This beautiful family just became 5 recently.  Their gorgeous house was filled with little things that brings them joy as a family. Annabella was very relaxed during the shoot and was enjoying her feeds as well as her brother's cuddles.

Before the arrival

I spent a lazy Sunday afternoon with this beautiful bunch hanging in the park. We were just taking it easy and playing it by ear.

White salt photography's workshop

Met this beautiful photographer (Jodie Knell) and her family in a workshop with Janine Haris from White salt photography in Warrnambool Victoria. These shots were taken while Janine was taking us through session sequence training. It was an amazing workshop that redefined my style of photography and how I see myself as a photographer in the future.

Sisterly love

Penelope & Violet showed me around their beautifully renovated and decorated mid century home. Lots of art and lots of love in this house.
